Hi there! I work for a human resources company in Japan. For a specific period, I’ve been working remotely, and I thought it might be fun to share a glimpse into my daily routine.
Ready to see what my remote workday looks like?
Table of contents
1. Morning Routine: Starting the Day
6:45 AM: First things first—I prepare lunch. Working from home gives me the chance to use morning hours effectively.
7:00 AM: With lunch sorted, I dive into some JLPT study time. Balancing work with studying for a Japanese language test is no small feat, but I’m up for the challenge!
7:30 AM: Time to get moving! I head out for a walk in a nearby park. It's my way of staying active and clearing my mind before diving into work.
8:30 AM: Breakfast time! A good meal is essential before I switch gears and start my workday.

2. Daily tasks: Working Time!
9:00 AM: And we’re off! My day officially begins with organizing tasks and updating Excel sheets. It's all about staying on top of the details.
10:00 AM: Next up is our department-wide meeting. Even though I work remotely, connecting with the team and discussing ongoing projects is great.
11:00 AM: Interviews are a big part of my role. I speak with two potential candidates, assessing their fit for various roles within a company.
12:00 PM: Lunch break—time to enjoy the meal I prepared earlier and take a moment to recharge.
1:00 PM: After lunch, I have a 1-on-1 meeting with my supervisor. We discuss my progress and strategize for upcoming projects.
1:30 PM: With the meeting done, I shift my focus to preparing for an upcoming overseas event. Coordinating with local staff and ironing out details is key to making sure everything goes smoothly.
4:00 PM: Time to revisit the spreadsheets. I make sure all our data is up-to-date, keeping everything in order.
5:00 PM: Now, it’s time to get creative! I work on preparing presentation materials for upcoming meetings.
6:00 PM: As the day winds down, I wrap things up by writing my daily report. It’s a great way to reflect on the day’s accomplishments.
3. Wrapping Up the Day: After-Work Activities
6:30 PM: And that’s a wrap! I officially end my workday, feeling accomplished and ready to relax.
7:00 PM: Dinner preparation begins. I head to the kitchen, turning on some background music or a podcast to keep me company as I cook.
9:00 PM: After dinner, I go for a walk around the neighborhood or go to the gym to stay healthy!
To finish up the day, I dedicate some time to my daily Duolingo practice. Later, I relax by watching Netflix, fully winding down and getting ready for a good night’s sleep.
Thank you for seeing it through to the end! How was it?
I hope you all consider a well-balanced work-life life in Japan!
